Barr Middle School students selected for Sing Around Nebraska Children's Honor Choir
Two Barr Middle School students have been selected to participate in the 2010 Sing Around Nebraska Children's Honor Choir Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in Lincoln.
Hailey Ahlman and Hannah Carter will participate in the event sponsored by the Nebraska Choral Directors Association, said Donica Vonderohe, vocal music teacher at Barr Middle School. Fifth- and sixth-graders are selected for the 150-member choir through an audition process.
Ahlman, Carter, and other choir members will rehearse and perform under the guidance from guest clinician Emily Ellsworth, who is the artistic director for the Anima-Young Singers of Greater Chicago.
Choir members will rehearse for two hours in the evening on Friday, Oct. 22, then rehearse throughout the day on Oct. 23. The Honor Choir will perform in a concert beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in conjunction with the Collegiate Choral Festival, also sponsored by the Nebraska Choral Directors Association. Tickets are $12 each and may be purchased by calling (402) 472-4747.
Sing Around Nebraska's honor choir for fifth- and sixth-grade students occurs in the fall of even-numbered years.
