Barr Middle School students raise $950 for Humane Society

Barr Middle School seventh-graders have raised $950 for the Central Nebraska Humane Society through their "Pennies for Puppies" project.

Barr Social Studies teacher Joan Black said seventh-graders organized the community service project as part of the G.R.E.A.T. program (Gang Resistance Education and Training) to support the Central Nebraska Humane Society.

Students collected money until April 27. This is the second community service project the students have organized this school year. Last year, students donated more than 900 cans of food to Hope Harbor.
