AYP Scores High

The Grand Island public schools met 459 of 461 indicators or measures of adequate yearly progress (AYP) under the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

The Northwest public schools, meanwhile, met all 70 of their indicators on AYP in the first year the federal measurements have applied to that school district.

The results were released on Monday.

Steve Burkholder, Grand Island assistant superintendent for student learning, said Grand Island's results are impressive, especially when viewed over time.
