Author will visit West Lawn Elementary School students

Children's book author and illustrator Mike Artell of Covington, La., will work with West Lawn Elementary School students on Thursday, May 7, Principal Jane Gloor said.

Artell will work with second- and third-grade students from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. May 7, fourth- and fifth-grade students from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. May 7, and kindergarten and first-grade students from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. May 7 at the school at 3022 W. College St.

During his time with students, Artell will do activities such as read aloud, talk about the various media he uses to illustrate books, show students how to draw emotions on faces, and describe what it's like to be an author and illustrator.
