Applicants sought for G.I. Public Schools Board of Education position

The Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education is accepting applications for an appointment to the Board because of Board member Clay Schutz’s resignation effective Feb. 11.

The remainder of the appointed term to be served expires Dec. 31, 2012.

Any registered voter residing in Ward C may apply. No member of the Board of Education can be employed by Grand Island Public Schools.

Interested people should have a genuine interest in and devotion to public education, willingness to give time and effort to the work, a capacity for understanding people, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

Application forms are available at the Grand Island Public Schools’ superintendent’s office at the Kneale Administration Building, 123 S. Webb Road; or on the school district’s website at www.gips.org.

Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22. Applicants will be interviewed individually starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at the Kneale Administration Building. Nomination for the new Board member will occur at a Board of Education meeting.
