Air Force Winds of Freedom ensemble will perform in G.I. Public Schools
The Winds of Freedom, an ensemble from the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band, will present concerts for students at eight schools in the Grand Island Public Schools from March 30 through April 2.
Winds of Freedom is a woodwind quintet with percussion that performs classical, jazz, and standard woodwind quintet music showcasing musical diversity. Winds of Freedom is headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base and represents more than 329,000 Air Force professionals around the world.
Musicians in Winds of Freedom play the oboe, horn, flute, clarinet, and bassoon.
Each school concert is 30 to 40 minutes long and features music from around the world, said Staff Sgt. Jennifer James, a member of Winds of Freedom.
Winds of Freedom will perform at Grand Island schools on these dates:
*Monday, March 30: 1 p.m., Jefferson Elementary School, 1314 W. Seventh St.; 2:15 p.m., Howard Elementary School, 502 W. Ninth St.
*Tuesday, March 31: 12:45 p.m., Seedling Mile Elementary School, 3208 E. Seedling Mile Road; 2 p.m., Dodge Elementary School, 641 S. Oak St.
*Wednesday, April 1: 12:30 p.m., Lincoln Elementary School, 805 N. Beal St.; 1:50 p.m., Walnut Middle School, 1600 N. Custer Ave.
*Thursday, April 2: 8:15 a.m., Stolley Park Elementary School, 1700 W. Stolley Park Road; 10 a.m., Knickrehm Elementary School, 2013 N. Oak St.
