Air Force JROTC cadets installed at Grand Island Senior High School
The Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program at Grand Island Senior High School had its installment ceremony on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the high school and also distributed community service awards from the 2009-2010 school year.
"Our installment ceremony is our opportunity to officially bestow cadet rank to the cadets so they can carry out their jobs leading and managing the activities of the Cadet Corps," said Lt. Col. Donald McQuown, JROTC instructor.
Only 10 percent of cadets are eligible to receive the community service award. Each of the 13 cadets who won the award received a jacket embroidered with the logo "GI AFJROTC."
Students who received community service awards, their grade, and the number of community service hours performed were:
12th Grade: Dyllan Armour, 130 hours; Joshua Boothe, 58.5 hours.
11th Grade: Micah Wren, 82.5 hours; Mason Powell, 71.5 hours; Samantha Knight, 68 hours; Brady Bushhousen, 67.5 hours.
10th Grade: Yurixzi Erives, 86 hours; Carlos Marroquin, 81.5 hours; Brandon Kopisch, 75.5 hours; Cory Sorahan, 65 hours; Kimberly Ruiz, 59.5 hours; Breana Skarniak, 59 hours; and Jamey Tapia, 58.5 hours.
