Relationship Empowerment for Students, Parents, Educators, and Community Through Theatre
R.E.S.P.E.C.T.2 is an educational theatre company that has provided over 1,800 violence prevention programs to over 215,000 students since 2001 across Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Program evaluation data supports the effectiveness of these programs on decreasing bullying and increasing pro-social behavior. Dr. Patricia Newman, Executive Director and Child Psychologist, teams with Artistic Director, Nick Zadina, and Program Director, Brandon Rohe, as well as Actor Educator, Ashley Spessard, to share the power of using drama and theatre to reach (and teach!) students of all ages the importance of safe, healthy, and positive relationship behavior.
During the main session R.E.S.P.E.C.T.2 will present “The Impact of Bullying Across the Life Span.” Theatre, vignettes, research findings, and feedback from over 215,000 students are combined to facilitate awareness, discussion and problem solving about the need to keep relationships, at all ages, safe and healthy. Facilitated by Dr. Patricia Newman, scenes from R.E.S.P.E.C.T.2 plays for ages K – 12 will demonstrate the dynamics of bullying behavior and how to stop it.
