Grand Island Public School's Communication Audit

Welcome to Grand Island Public Schools

It’s a pleasure and honor for me to welcome you to Grand Island Public Schools, which enjoys an outstanding reputation and is recognized as one of Nebraska’s premier school districts. Located along Interstate 80, the 50,000 residents enjoy the comforts and entertainment opportunities typically found in a much larger city while maintaining the values and support for which smaller Nebraska communities are known.

The district is proud to offer a comprehensive educational program from Pre-school through 12th grade. Grand Island Public Schools serves a diverse and growing student population in a variety of educational programs and services ranging from Special Education to Advanced Placement and dual-credit courses with Central Community College in Grand Island.

Grand Island Public Schools offer high-quality pre-school, elementary school, middle school, and high school programs. The focus of the district’s Early Learning Center is providing a nurturing and caring environment for 3- to 5-year-old students developing each child’s potential for learning. Instructors who are highly trained to teach an integrated language arts program, math, science, social studies, physical education, and vocal and instrumental music serve as the foundation of 14 elementary schools. Three middle schools offer the instructional areas available in the elementary schools but also extend opportunities to explore Career and Technical Education classes with state-of-the-art equipment. High Ability Learners in the middle schools can participate in content-specific seminars as well as events such as the Academic Quiz Bowl, Duke Talent Search, and Geography Bee. Grand Island Senior High School has something for everyone. Nine Advanced Placement courses are offered. Additionally, Grand Island Senior High School is one of only two high schools in the state with a planetarium and is the only local high school with an orchestra program. Students can participate in many activities, with 30 clubs and organizations and 19 sports available.

A commitment to continuous school improvement is a tradition at Grand Island Public Schools. If you want to be associated with very progressive and academically challenging schools, we invite you to learn more about us by visiting any of our schools in person or by exploring our website.
